Sports Card Collectors Are Investing In Blake Griffin
Blake Griffin rookie cards are on fire and selling like crazy on eBay right now. And it is no wonder because this young kid has been a highlight machine so far in the 2010-11 NBA season.
The Clippers young forward recently had an impressive streak broken. He had recorded a double-double in 27 consecutive games. For those of you who don't know what a double-double is, it is when a player has 10 or more rebounds or assists and scores 10 or more points in a single game. Griffin's streak was mainly rebounds and points. As I type this article, Blake is averaging 22.8 points per game along with 12.9 rebounds. a stunning statistic for such a young player in his first full year in the league.
In a recent game played on January 17, 2011, he scored a career high 47 points and pulled down 14 rebounds in the Clippers 114-107 win over the Indiana Pacers. The Los Angeles Clippers are a nice young team and they are getting better. Along With the human highlight reel, the Clippers also have Eric Gordon, another young star on the rise. If they can keep these young guys together the Clippers will no longer be the laughing stock of the NBA.
As the 2010-11 NBA season opened, many fans, including myself, figured that John Wall and Blake would be battling for the rookie of the year award. But it has been no contest as Griffin looks like he is a lock to win it. Wall has struggled a bit in his rookie season with the lowly Washington Wizards.
Had it not been for a season ending injury, Griffin would be playing in his second NBA campaign. The number one pick of the 2009 NBA draft is making up for lost time this season that's for sure. And as mentioned above, his rookie cards are smoking hot right now.
2009-10 basketball card boxes are on the rise due to the success of this young stud. I just did some surfing on eBay for "completed listings" of Blake Griffin rookie cards from 09-10 and his first issues are going for some premuim prices.
